Lovely Sunday Photograph and an Update....

Hello Everyone!

I've missed you guys and i've missed blogging and writing, and finding interesting stuff!  I am just so damn busy with school.

I am taking two online classes right now and then I have a month off before school starts again at the end of August.  I am hoping with that month to start blogging again and see..how...it...goes!

Now:  Lovely Sunday Photograph.  My mind is on weddings of course.  It's summer and when I was shooting weddings this was the start of the busiest season.  Plus I would much rather think about pretty dresses and love than my Human Growth and Development class!

Slowly Coming Back and a New Purchase....

Hello All!

I looked at this blog the other day and I realized I had let it go stagnant for months.  Like many other things in my life including my Etsy site and my gym membership!

Like many of you I have a hard time with life sometimes and the last few months have been a time of reflection.  I haven't been happy these past few months.  Not necessarily with one thing, but with many things that have all added up to one big heaping pile.

I am currently taking the second anatomy and physiology and also physics which combined with working a forty hour week has been insane.  I was thinking about applying to sonography school, well, did apply to a sonography school.  I had all of the prerequisites and at first was denied an interview but went over the head of admissions head to the director and got an interview but alas was wait-listed.

When I received the e-mail I was wait-listed I realized a few things.  I was not upset that I didn't get into the school.  Really what I was upset about was that I had wanted something to fix all of my problems.  Fix my unhappiness at work, and my feeling of stagnation, and my lack of progress.  I wanted a panacea, a cure all for everything.

As I cried to my Mom and Meridyth and my best friend Stephanie they all agreed that I needed to get back to finding myself again.

Finding myself again has included a push to finish these two classes and only take online classes this summer so as not to kill myself, to make presents for people who have been very supportive in my time of crisis these past few months, and to go back to therapy!

Also, I bought myself an iphone!  I told Mer on days when she is not nice to me I may love my iphone more than her!  It is only an iphone four.  I have Tmobile, because of the cheap plans, and was not eligible for an upgrade but I found a gently used phone and I have to say it is the BEST present I have every bought for myself.  I AM IN LOVE!

I joined instagram and I love sharing photos.  I was a photography major in school and having a forum to share and comment and like photographs is amazing!  Check me out by clicking the link.

One more thing.  Happy Anniversary to Meridyth.  Though it has been ten years it is our first wedding anniversary today!

This was the top of our wedding cake.  We didn't wrap it well so it had freezer burn but it was still fun.

Lots of love,

Jess

Its a Waiting Game...

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to do a quick check in with everyone.

I can't even describe how this semester of school is kicking my Tush!  For all of you that have taken physics and have not had a mental breakdown I applaud you.  I am also taking the second anatomy and physiology and there is so much information some nights I think that definitions and models may leak out of my brain and end up on my pillow.

To add to my stress we are short staffed at work so my work load and what is expected of me has been added too.

Meridyth is also finishing her last class of her graduate program so she is in school too!

We are eating a lot of cereal and I thank my coworkers everyday who bought us our Keurig for our wedding!

On exciting news my oldest Niece and Nephew are flying in to Maryland to go to Florida with my parents but Mer and I are taking the day off to see them in-between trips.  I can't wait!

So that sums it up.  All I do is work, study, eat, and sleep.  I do not have time to make art, blog, watch movies, cook, or look at things on the internet!

When life change you will be the first to know.

Lots of Love,

Jess

What Day is It Today and easy to make crafts...

Hello Everyone!

I hope life has been treating all of you well.  To reference my title, I honestly have no idea what today is!  I am pretty worried that on a Sunday I am going to wake up, get dressed, and come to work!

I have been in constant motion lately.  Between, work, school, and house duties half the time I am a day ahead or behind and the other half of the time I am too distracted worrying about school and grades to care what day it is!

To share some good news, I did get an 85 on my statistics midterm!  Statistics may be one of the hardest classes I have ever taken.  I don't think that my brain works like those of you that enjoy math and probabilities, however, I am actually doing well!  I am working my Tushie off, but I am doing well!

Today I wanted to share some random projects with you that I want to try when I have some down time or can't sleep one night.

Drowning in School Work and my New Nephew Caleb James

Hello!

I haven't blogged in a few days.  The reason is I am DROWNING!  Drowning in classes, work, and house stuff.

I admitted to Meridyth last night after I worked all day, made dinner, and studied Anatomy and Physiology for two hours that this may be one of the hardest things I have ever done.

Learning I love medicine this late in my life and wanting to fulfill my goals of going into this field is not going to be easy.  I am just hoping that all of these nights that I am not talking to the people in my life that I love will go toward that bigger goal.

For anyone else that is working a million hours and going to school I applaud you.  This shit is not easy.

Now onto Caleb James!

My sister-in-law and her hubby had a beautiful baby a month ago and I took some pictures of him and their family.

This is the first baby session I have done in awhile and I think they turned out pretty well!

I'm off now to study and run to work but Welcome to the World Caleb James!  We love you so much already.

I would actually love to do more family portrait work.  It was A LOT less stressful than weddings!

Also, isn't my sister-in-law so pretty?  I was so happy with their family portrait because even the dog is looking!

Lots of Love,

Jess

An amazing artist that Quills and a new card coming soon on LoveUPaperly

Hello, Hello!

It was a snowy one tonight here in Maryland!  I am just happy that it looks like no shoveling will have to take place to get out of the house tomorrow for work!

I do have a new card to show you I hope by tomorrow on LoveUPaperly and I have lots of ideas swirling around so new things should be coming soon.  I will keep you posted.

I just finished my microbiology class tonight and as you know I am immersed in medicine all day so when I found this artist I wanted to share it with you.

Her name is Lisa Nilsson and boy is she ahhhmazing!

Her work that I love the most is her quilling entitled Tissue Series.

If you have been following my blog for awhile you know that I also love quilling and did a lot of it while recovering from my neck surgery.

Quilling the art of rolling and manipulating strips of paper to make designs.  Lisa Nilsson takes this art to a new level by creating cross sections of the human body using paper.

This is why she started the series:
“I was out [junking] and came across an antique quilled piece of religious art. It was a very fancy filigreed crucifix-gilt. I later learned that nuns and monks used edges of old bibles to make pieces like this,” said Nilsson in an interview with ArtSake.  Around the same time, she had stumbled across a French book of hand-colored anatomical cross sections which she felt was a great way to showcase quilling.

The have a bit of a yuck factor, but at the same time are strangely beautiful, delicate, and intimate.  I thought perfectly fitting images for a day filled with medicine!

Aren't they beautiful in a strange way?  It takes the artist hours to put them together.

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

Lovely Sunday Photograph

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

Tomorrow I start school (two classes), so with work and school and trying to keep up an etsy shop we will see how life goes!  Posts might be appearing very late in the day!
Image source unknown.  Please let me know if anyone knows creator/owner.
Isn't this image lovely?  To wake up with hundreds of balloons around you!  I wonder if this was for a special occasion?!

Also, do you remember when I told you my amazing father wrote a book?  Original blog post can be found here.  It is entitled Forgotten Hostages and is a true first hand account of the first terrorist attack in Washington D.C. that happened on March 9, 1977.

It is now available on kindle for only $4.99!

I am actually reading the book myself right now and it is fantastic!

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

New Card on LoveUPaperly and a tired, cold, Monday

Hello all you gorgeous readers!

To tell you the truth I am pooped tonight!  I had to see the doctor this morning, worked most of the day, and then came home to crash with an icepack!

I have been working on some new cards.  I think this one is cute, look for more on LoveUPaperly.

I am OBSESSED with this cow stamp!
I don't have much else in the land of this blog right now.  Meridyth and I are planning the wedding and I have soo much work to do!  I need to start figuring out what we want the invite to say and then I need to start working on the ceremony, and hire a photographer.

Plus, school starts next week.  For those of you that don't know, I have a master's in graphic design but found my true calling accidentally when I started working for a cardiology practice.  So, now I am taking classes to hopefully apply to PA school in a year or two!  The two classes this semester are microbiology and medical terminology.

I love working all day and using the analytical part of my brain and then coming home to blog and work on my shop which is so much more artsy.

Do any of you have arty jobs and then go home and do math or work as a doctor and love to blow glass on the weekends?  I love the dichotomy of that and my life feels fuller than it has ever been.

Until tomorrow lovelies.  Yes it is 6:30 p.m. but I am going to lie down and watch t.v. with my eyes close while my body heals!

Love,

Jess
