Inexpensive Dresses that you could get married in

Hello Everyone!

I hope today was a good Thursday!  I worked a full eight hour day today for the first time and I am actually not hurting as bad as I thought I would!  I hope that I have finally turned a corner in terms of my neck and the chronic pain.

So, on a very happy note, Mer and I are getting married May 5th!  We are a little late on the planning because of everything that has been going on.

One thing I do not have yet is a dress!  We don't have a lot of money to spend but I want to feel beautiful on our wedding day.

I have been going back and forth over dresses.  Should I wear a color or wear white?  Do I want dreamy or sophisticated?  I feel like when I put it on I will know, but in the meantime I love perusing the internet and dreaming of wearing beautiful yet affordable dresses on my wedding day.

Here are some I have found that I can picture wearing.  What do you guys think?  Do you like any?  Have any other suggestions?

This is a non-traditional fun dress from Vintage Dress Outlet for $43.95  Fun, no?
I found this pretty dress on the Wtoo site which is partnered with the brand Watters but is the cheaper of the lines.  I love this dress, it is described as a mini tafetta ballgown.  I would definitely go for the deep red color on the second dress.  You can find this dress on all different sites ranging in prices from $79-$200.
This white dress is only $199.  Not a traditional wedding dress but wouldn't it be perfect?
I found this stunner on UDreamyBridal.  This dress is selling for $98.23. Very Audrey Hepburn at a reduced price, don't you think?
There are so many places to look for inexpensive dresses.  I go on ModCloth A LOT!  However, make sure to read the reviews because they are really helpful!  Here are a few delicious examples.
I know the wedding dress is important and I want to feel fabulous, but I am hoping to buy something that won't cost an arm and a leg.

I will let you know when I find it!  Look for another post with more traditional inexpensive wedding dresses!

Love,

Jess

An amazing artist that Quills and a new card coming soon on LoveUPaperly

Hello, Hello!

It was a snowy one tonight here in Maryland!  I am just happy that it looks like no shoveling will have to take place to get out of the house tomorrow for work!

I do have a new card to show you I hope by tomorrow on LoveUPaperly and I have lots of ideas swirling around so new things should be coming soon.  I will keep you posted.

I just finished my microbiology class tonight and as you know I am immersed in medicine all day so when I found this artist I wanted to share it with you.

Her name is Lisa Nilsson and boy is she ahhhmazing!

Her work that I love the most is her quilling entitled Tissue Series.

If you have been following my blog for awhile you know that I also love quilling and did a lot of it while recovering from my neck surgery.

Quilling the art of rolling and manipulating strips of paper to make designs.  Lisa Nilsson takes this art to a new level by creating cross sections of the human body using paper.

This is why she started the series:
“I was out [junking] and came across an antique quilled piece of religious art. It was a very fancy filigreed crucifix-gilt. I later learned that nuns and monks used edges of old bibles to make pieces like this,” said Nilsson in an interview with ArtSake.  Around the same time, she had stumbled across a French book of hand-colored anatomical cross sections which she felt was a great way to showcase quilling.

The have a bit of a yuck factor, but at the same time are strangely beautiful, delicate, and intimate.  I thought perfectly fitting images for a day filled with medicine!

Aren't they beautiful in a strange way?  It takes the artist hours to put them together.

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

Paper flower and some favorite pins

Hi Lovelies!

It was a beautiful day today!  I slept last night for 12 hours which makes me almost act like a normal human being!

I have actually been in a bit of a funk lately thanks in part due to a new medication that my doctor prescribed.  For anyone else taking meds and trying to get used to them I FEEL FOR YOU!

I wanted to share with you an awesome tutorial that I found on how to make a giant paper rose on the blog  Mon carnet.  I love the blog and the tutorial and I think it might work for smaller flowers too.
Wouldn't you want someone to give you one of these?  Valentine's Day is just around the corner!

I also went on a pin frenzy last night!  Sometimes I just find cool things all over the internet and I don't want to loose them!

I thought this card was amazing and he sells more in his shop!
I also came across an artist that I really like.  Rick Stultz.  Definitely worth a look at his site.  I love this image of a rhinoceros.
 Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

Lovely Sunday Photograph and a shout out to London Bride

Hello friends!

Is everyone geared up for the Super Bowl?  Can I tell you a secret?!  I don't even know who is playing!  HA!  Neither Mer or I watch football....I'll probably be asleep by 7 p.m. anyway!!!

O.k., so I completely stole this inspiration board from the lovely Charley of London Bride.  Her blog is FANTASTIC!  This is going to be one I read all the time!  Isn't this inspiration board to die for?!
Don't sprinkles make you happy?  I now officially want to put sprinkles on everything!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

If you read my blog all the time keep coming back!  I would also love to know who you are.  Send me an e-mail, loveupaperly@yahoo.com, or leave a comment to say hello!

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

Artist Saturday and a Sorry...

Hello all you lovelies!

First let me apologize for slacking off this week with blogging!  I have now slept two straight nights in a row (hooray!) and I am now posting artist Saturday/Friday for you!

I am going to share with you some work by Illustrator Michael Sloan who went as Ewan Macleish in his early days.  I became obsessed with is work probably in 2007, but unfortunately I cannot find the paintings he did for his son that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED (sad face)!

However, I did pull other images that I like of his.  I find myself drawn to his blue work and I think his use of space and the way he draws cities is AMAZING!

He also does a graphic novel featuring Professor Nimbus who I have included in this set of images.

I might also be drawn to him because he loves Venice, Italy as much as I do.  His drawings are my dreams...

He is very talented and you should definitely check him out.  If I do ever come across the other images I will send out a big hooray and show you.

Now I introduce....Michael Sloan!

What do you guys think?  I also love his use of darks and lights.  This guy has got it going on!

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

Laying Low and dreaming of sleep...

Hello Lovelies!

Sorry the last two day's I have been M.I.A.

Though the neurosurgery drama is getting much better (yay!) I have had a chronic condition that has been gradually getting worse and I think we are on the cusp of finally figuring out what is going on.

So after six blood tests this week (Yes, six!  The women who work at the lab actually greet me by name when I come in the door!) and four horrible day's of insomnia, I am hoping to sleep tonight and sleep well.  I have never realized what a crazy monster I become when I literally get about 3 hours of sleep in four days.

So I just picked up a prescription, bought a box of chocolates to eat with Mer and am planning on getting into bed right now.

To leave you off on that sleep note I am going to show some great pictures of sleepers I envy.
