I Don't Want To Do Anything Today....

There...I said it.  I am late.  VERY LATE, and instead of running to get dressed, make my lunch, scoop the cat litter, and make my coffee, oh and clean up the mess that LooLoo (cat) made while she dumped the whole bowl of food on the floor, I am sitting here typing because I do not want to move.

I want to sit and work on my Etsy site, and finish some projects, and work on school work, and snuggle with my wife.  I would also like to peruse pinterest and dream of places I would like to go and things I would make (or not make).

I need to get moving.  I know I do.  It's Friday.  I hope people are nice today.  I hope you guys have a wonderful day.

By the way this Tumblr site is amazing...the photographs are Amazing!  All taken by one person but I can't find his name on his site.  If anyone can message me and I will post it.  Really, really beautiful.

Jess

Artist Friday

Happy Friday!

What a very, very, very, loooong week!  I am glad to finally have two days to do homework, sleep late, watch t.v. with my sweetie, and maybe take some naps!

I am highlighting an amazing artist today who I am very excited about.

Her name is Liz Wolfe and she is a conceptual photographer who is living and working in Toronto, Canada.

She has no artist statement available on her website, but from my own perception she uses everyday objects and items, manipulating them and making the viewer look  and see in new and exciting ways.
Sugar Hills
Yellow Shoes and Sardines
Popsicle/Cupcakes
Red Shoes/Tampon
Lollipop Garden
Carrots/Peppers
Distorted Cones
I think her work is so interesting.  I love how everything is in bright and happy colors but that conceptually when you look closer there is something a little off.

Sort of like life sometimes, right?

Look tomorrow for the end pictures of my chalkboard glass tutorial!

Lots of love,

Jess

Friday Blues...

Hello lovelies!

I will be doing artist Friday tomorrow, making it Artist Saturday for this week!

Today has been a bit of a crap day so I am going to get into bed and allow myself to hide from the world for tonight.

Tomorrow I am going to face the day with a new outlook and a bright smile.

I do recommend this approach at times when everything is just too overwhelming!  Giving yourself a chance to say F*** it today, tomorrow will be better usually does wonders!

So until tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good Friday night!

Love,

Jess

Artist Friday featuring Kaitlin Zorah McDonough

Hello all you lovely people!

I am trying to provide some consistency in posts on the blog, so I am definitely going to do Artist Friday's where every Friday I feature a different artist.

If you would like to be featured send me an e-mail at loveupaperly@yahoo.com!

This week I am featuring one of my good friends who I lived and went to school with in Venice, Italy.  She is an amazing painter and printmaker and is still living and working in Venice.  I am featuring just a few of my favorites that she has done so please check out her site for more.

Drum roll please!!!

Here is some of the lovely and inspiring work of Kaitlin Zorah McDonough

I love Kaitlin's work.  It takes me to a place of dreams and travel and yearning and love.  I hope you enjoy her world as much as I do.

Have a relaxing, fun, and enjoyable weekend!

More Valentine's Day cards and Friday artist showcase

Hello, hello!

How is everyone doing today?  It is about 60 degrees here in Maryland which is a nice change from the very cold weather, but weird for January.

I wanted to share a set of new cards I put up on LoveUPaperly.
Four cards with envelopes to match are $8!  Each card is letter-pressed and stamped with a hand-cut linoleum stamp.  I think they are super cute!

Sort of on the same note, since I have been busy making art lately, I was thinking today about all the wonderful and very talented artists I have had the opportunity to live and work with and I wanted to talk about a two of them today.

I went to graduate school in Venice, Italy at the Scuola Internazionale Di Grafica.  This means that not only did I have the opportunity to live in Venice for a year, but I was exposed to AMAZING artists!

Greg Murr:  Not only is Greg an interesting guy and a great cook but his attention to detail and the nuances of his art are really beautiful.  In Italy he would spend hours mixing different shades of the same color, he also loves coffee, a lot!

Claire Rau:  Claire was my graduate thesis adviser, but also an amazing artist, strong woman, and confidant.  Without her, school would not have been nearly as focused or challenging.  On top of it all she is an amazing artist making strong social statements while working with a variety of material in sculpture and prints.

I recommend clicking on their links and looking at their websites which have their artist statements, portfolios, and contact.

So, I am thinking that Sunday I have been trying to do a lovely photograph (I forgot this last Sunday! Oops!), and Friday will be Artist Showcase Friday highlighting a new artist or two every week.  What do you guys think?  I would love suggestions or e-mail or comment about a new artist to highlight!

I hope everyone has a splendid weekend!  I am going to make some new cards tomorrow that are perculating in my head.  Can't wait to show you!

love,

Jess

Holiday cheer and a little crying

Happy Friday!!!! So, tomorrow officially kicks off the holiday and though my family is in Florida and Seattle we have tons of Mer's family here in Maryland and we have get togethers all weekend! I am super excited to see people and eat good food! Today was not a great day though. I am six weeks post surgery and for the past two days the pain has been pretty bad. There are also other stressful situations that I feel unable to handle. I usually deal with stress by going to the gym and pushing my body to it's limit, but since I can't do that...I cry. I cried at physical therapy today. I cried from pain, from feeling a lack of control, and for situations out of my control. However, as I am lying in bed surrounded by Mer and my kitties I pray that 2012 is a better year and I give thanks for the many, many, many learning experiences that happened in 2011. Though I am hoping for less learning experiences in 2012! I have photos to share with you but the will be coming soon. Maybe even tomorrow! Until then Merry Christmas Eve Eve and happy holidays! Love Jess
