New Listing on LoveUPaperly: Delicate Paper Earrings

Hello!

I have been working sooo hard on adding new items to LoveUPaperly.  I start school in one week and I am taking two classes this semester plus working full time, so I am trying to finish some projects before I have to come home from work and study!

Today I listed a pair of earrings I have been working on.  Honestly, I love them!  They were exactly what I was imagining.  Delicate, pretty, bright and only $12.

Check out more of my paper jewelry on LoveUPaperly.

Lots of Love,

Jess

Handmade Paper Jewelry

Hello All!

I have been hibernating, not feeling well, these past two weeks.  However, like any true artist when I am feeling sad, what do I do?  I CREATE!

I have so many ideas percolating for my shop, LoveUPaperly.  Unfortunately, it feels like there is not enough time in the day to do it all!

My latest listing is for a beautiful paper bracelet.

I love paper jewelry and have been making it for about two years.  I have sold one ring before, but I stopped selling it because the task felt daunting.  The items take a long time to make and each one is labor intensive that I didn't want to give them up!

However, I love to make it and have received many compliments on them so I decided I really wanted to start to sell them.

I will eventually do a tutorial how I make this, but for now I will just explain.

First, I cut out the shape I want from thin cardboard.  Then I use strips of magazine pages.  I look for interesting colors and patterns.  I layer these using a decoupage method (modgepodge).  The whole process of layering and getting it how I want it to look took about ten hours and lots of gluey hands!

I then covered the bracelet in two coatings of sealant making the item water resistant.  Finishing the bracelet off I cut tiny strips of Velcro so it is easy to put on.  Since it is so lightweight and comfortable it also stays put all day!

I am selling this bracelet for $7.50 on LoveUPaperly.

Lots of Love!

Jess

Artist Saturday Showcase: Nidhi Chanani

Good Morning Everyone!

When you read this it might not be morning, but since I went to sleep at 7 pm last night I woke up at 5 am, so it is morning to me!

Yes, when most of you were eating dinner or getting ready to go out I was in bed fast asleep!  I never realized how much sleep a person needs as their body is healing.  I think about sleep all day at work and can't wait to come home to put an icepack on my neck and get into bed.  Hopefully this need for sleep will dissipate at some point because I barely get to see my honey!

Now onto the artist for this week!  Her name is Nidhi Chanani.  I found her on Etsy but she also has her own blog.

Here is what she say's about herself:
"My name is Nidhi (like nitty, rhymes with kitty). I am an Indian-American artist and designer.
I was born in Calcutta and raised in suburban California, I create art because it makes me happy - with hopes it can make others happy, too. I create a new illustration every week day."

She makes amazing illustrations, but she also does original wood burnings which is what initially drew me to her work.  They are really, really, really cool.  As you all know I love printmaking and this technique has the same sort of feel to it.  I love the detail, the white and black, the use of white space.  She's good people...really good!
"You, You, You"

"Basuri"

"Protected"

"Queenie"

Aren't they beautiful?

Here is one of her illustrations I also thought was great.  I always want/do this in the rain.
"City in the Rain"
I am seriously contemplating buying one of her wood burnings!

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

New card on LoveUPaperly!

I finally posted a new card to the shop and I am almost done with another one that I am swooning over!

Here is the new card for today.  A bit different that my other designs, I think a bit more hipster/retro.  Let me know what you think!

The hand with the peace sign is an original hand carved linoleum stamp made by me!  I think the silver gives it a retro flair.  Behind the peace sign is an embossed design in pink on the front and red on the back.  Matching envelope has adorable bird stamped in black.

Card is only $1.25 and there is so much more on LoveUPaperly.

Until Tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

LoveUPaperly Updates!

Hello everyone!

I hope if it is rainy cats and dogs like it is here that you all are staying cozy and dry!

I have been working soooo hard on figuring out what I want my shop to be on etsy.  I've been creating, and working, and making a plan, and figuring out what I love to make.

I'm not feeling great today and I have been sitting at the computer waay too long.

I have an emergency visit with my neurosurgeon on Tuesday so wish me luck that I will feel better by then and my fusion will be working.

Right now it looks like I am the humpedback of New Market, Md. because I have so much fluid in my back by the fusion site.  Yikes!  The PT actually put tape all over  the area where the fluid is saying the tape will help to disperse it.  Has anyone else had to go through this?

So on a completely different note, I am going to leave you with some images of what I am working on and in what direction my little shop is going in.

Definitely go to Etsy if you have time and poke around the shop:  http://www.loveupaperly.etsy.com

Hope you enjoy what i've been doing!

love,

Jess
