Attack of the Migraine and Other Things

Happy day after Thanksgiving!

I woke up with a list of things to do today about a mile long and I had high hopes to jump into them and be super productive.

However, it is 12:43 pm and I suddenly feel the world tilting and beginning to spin.  I have vestibular migraines, I have had them since I was eight.  Having one is like being on a spinning teacup ride at Disney World but you are not able to yell for it to stop.  Unfortunately, my inner ear carries the controls and it decides when it wants me to stop feeling dizzy.  As you can imagine, having migraines that make you dizzy also means that any sort of ride that could make you dizzy is not something that you think is fun!

So instead of vacuuming, doing school work, and working on art, I have taken two Dramamine and I am going to lie down and try to sleep it off.

It feels like having decided to slow down this week from waking up at 5 am and going to sleep at 12 am and studying with every free second my body is also deciding to slow down and make me rest and sleep.

I am working on some new one of a kind prints for my Etsy shop LoveUPaperly that I think will make really good gifts for the holidays.

With that, I will leave you with some of my latest pins from Pinterest.http://www.pinterest.com

Changes, right around the corner...

Hello out there!

I have had a lot going on in my life lately.  There is a necessity to change some things, to branch out again in new directions, and to hunker into myself to finish out this semester strong.

Only a few more weeks of school and I am happy to say that I am coming out very strong in my Anatomy and Physiology class and I am forging ahead in statistics.

It is nice to see that I there is a month break just around the corner!

I have also started to slowly go back to the gym.  I am being very careful of my neck so I am trying not to push too much.

I got to take some new pictures of my nephew Caleb, and it has been great to get a lot of pictures and videos from my sister in Seattle of her kids and her new baby Jack.

One day at a time has been a mantra.  I am excited for Thanksgiving.  I have a lot to be thankful for.

On that note, I found this on Pinterest and I had to post it!

Ups and Downs and All Arounds...

Hello There!  Are you still reading even though I have not been a good and stable blogger?

In truth, like all of you, I have many ups and downs.  For me, most of my ups and downs happen to be health related.

Even after almost a year of recovering from my spinal fusion I still have good days and bad days.  Today happens to be a bad day.  Even though I laid out my gym clothes for tomorrow on my quest to become healthy again I know in my heart I will not be going because currently I have abandoned my school work and I am lying on my back in bed with a very, very cold ice pack urging through strong mental will power to bring down the swelling that today is not allowing me to turn my neck in either direction.

Besides my neck my whole body hurts which means that my Fibro Myalgia or whatever diagnosis they are giving me this week, is also rearing its ugly head tonight.

At times like this I hate my body for feeling so weak and hurting so much.  However, at times like this I also appreciate my love for the beauty in the world which keeps me going.

So instead of complaining I am going to show you some of the pins I have been pinning on Pinterest!

Pins and Repins on Pinterest this week

Happy Thursday!
What a looong week!  I am hoping to having a some quality time with Mer this week, but if we don't my parents will be home soon and I'll be home with Mer and the cats.

I only had three Pins/Repins this week on Pinterest but they are some good ones!
Original source unknown
How cool is this?  As you might know I am obsessed with Italy and this would be really cool to do with a map from there.

Here are the directions:
1. Paint your nails white/cream
2. Soak nails in alcohol for five minutes
3. Press nails to map and hold
4. Paint with clear protectant immediately after it dries.
Original Source Unknown
This photograph is dreamy.  If anyone knows the original source I would love to give it credit.
Project found on LifeHacker
I think this is such a good use for old wine corks.  Check out the original project on the website LifeHacker.

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Favorite Pinterest posts of the last week and surprised packages at home

Hello My Lovelies!

I was so excited to come home today and find not one but two packages waiting for me!

One package was from my bestest friend who was also my roommate in Italy for graduate school and is like a little sister.  She sends the best packages and tomorrow I will do highlights of the amazing things she sent!

The second is a present I bought myself for surviving this past year/months/few days!

I bought myself a UV light and photopolymer plates!  If you are not a nerdy photographer/printmaking artist you wouldn't be as ridiculously excited as I am for this...BUT I CAN'T WAIT TO USE IT!
Supplies found on Whole Lotta Whimsy

I have a few project ideas swirling around in my head so expect in the next month for new and different items for sale on LoveUPaperly.

Who's ready for some Pinterest recap?!

It is interesting to see what I have pinned and liked in the last week.  It is definitely a weirdly insightful look in to my crazy brain!

This week it is obvious that I am thinking about centerpieces for our wedding, loving quirky wedding photography, obsessed with cute animals (did you check out the hamster in a suitcase?!), and thinking about getting my ears re-pierced since the holes have closed.

You should try putting all the things together you have pinned.  It is so funny how accurate a picture it is into your thought process!

Until tomorrow,

Love,

Jess

Pinterest, We Heart It, and Falling asleep

Hey Everyone!

I am tired today...really....really.....really....tired.

So I just thought I would share a secret with you.

Before I go to bed every night and I have already put my beautiful mac laptop away, I get my phone to set my alarm for work the next day and then sneakily go to We Heart It.

I am definitely a Pinterest girl.  I love making my boards and I get excited when I see new images to pin and when people I don't know pin my pins.

Yet, every night I go to We Heart It, click on the word Love or Beautiful to bring up images related to that and then scroll through some pages.  There are less words and clutter than on Pinterest and I can just look and not think.

I usually end up falling asleep with a happy heart because the images make me smile.

You should try it.

Falling asleep to beautiful images is lovely.

Artistic block and Cleaning house

Happy Happy Tuesday my friends!

In all honesty I already think it's Wednesday, which as we all know is NOT a good thing.  Then on Thursday you think it's Friday and you come to find out that you still have another day of work!  Does that happen to anyone else out there?!

Today I wanted to talk about Artist block.  Personally, I have been on a creating high for the past month.  I have had tons of ideas, my work is flowing, i'm enjoying the process...and then BOOM!  I have about a half hour this morning before I have to go to work and I went down to see if I could finish some projects I started and I just stood there...and looked.

My mind is/was completely blank and I...got...nothing.

I think as someone that creates things, that is one of the hardest moments.  Do you guys suffer from this too?  How do you overcome the dreaded artist block?

I thought these pictures expressed perfectly what it feels like to have artists block!

I also wanted to share with you something from pinterest that I found.  No, it's not a gorgeous photograph or a great food picture.  It's actually something really practical!

It is a website called Home Store Solutions 101.  Each week there is a different challenge to conquer to clean out your home.  The owner of the website say's, "You cannot expect to get your home completely organized over night, even though that would be wonderful.  However, you can get organized slowly, over time. That is where The 52 Week Organized Home Challenge comes in. Each week we focus on a different challenge area in our homes and make steady forward progress".

I am seriously thinking about trying to do this.  I have a habit of starting a huge project and then losing steam somewhere where my house looks like a tornado blew through it.  It is so frustrating!
I think this is a great idea and seems manageable.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Until tomorrow,

love,

Jess
